Thoughts on seeds

I’ve decided I’m a seed starting idiot. Seeds don’t like me. I can’t get them to grow. I started a bunch of seeds on March 18. As of yesterday, not one of them has germinated. Granted, the bulk of what I started was seeds that will take up to 21 days or more to germinate but geez … I see people with vegetable plants for sale, people on Instagram with shelves and shelves and shelves of plants under grow lights growing like crazy,

Maybe my greenhouse is cursed?

The next three days are going to be crazy busy. I’ve got to photograph a lacrosse game tonight – I love photographing lacrosse. In my previous life when I was entering photography competitions I couldn’t get one of my lacrosse photographs to receive an award. Does that mean they weren’t very good? Maybe but they give me great pleasure and fulfill the requirements of the newspaper story I was shooting them for so that’s all that counts right?

I know what’s wrong with the above photo – feet and a hand are cut off – but the action I captured and the expression. When you’re photographing action it’s sometimes hard to have everything in one frame. Lacrosse is one of my favorite sports to photograph so I’ll just enjoy it and forget the rest of it.

I still look at my photos and think it might be a good competition image … not.

Tomorrow I have a benefit basketball game to photograph, then that night an event to photograph. On Sunday I photograph an opera competition. Work and school are nipping at my heels.

Talk about going down a rabbit hole. The magazine spread has been luring me down a rabbit hole every day now. I’m having so much fun developing it. Bummer: I learned for the final project we have to utilize the writing of students not our own. Boo. That doesn’t stop me from working on my own.

Until later …
